Companies scrambling to find answers for browser regulation are calling cookie-less tracking the next big thing, but a number of LinkTrust clients have successfully used the feature for years. It seems regulation is the name of the game. In recent months we’ve seen nearly every browser announce changes seeking to tame the internet’s wild landscape into one that better protects user privacy.

From the debate surrounding a default Do Not Track setting to Mozilla’s announcement that its latest edition of Firefox would block third party cookies, increasing regulation has internet marketers wondering where they stand.

While the latest changes at Mozilla won’t affect LinkTrust‘s tracking, affiliate marketers concerned about ever-increasing regulation can relax knowing there’s a variety of options available to those looking to leave cookies behind.

Pixel Post is a method that eliminates the need to track based on cookies by passing tracking information to LinkTrust via a server call, GET Post or in an image tag within the HTML. An especially secure tracking option is using the Click ID post, created by adding the click ID to your tracking URL. Since a click ID can only be used once and within the time frame of the configured cookie life, tracking this way is not only effective but helps prevent fraud.
